The Department of Dairy and Food Science at South ��ֱ���� State University hosted the 2025 North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge Midwest Regional Competition this month, welcoming 113 students from 14 universities and technical schools in collaboration with a regional dairy.

Bradley Snyder, South ��ֱ���� State University’s instructor of low brass, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The annual South ��ֱ���� State University Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized 28 faculty members, researchers and scholars Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.

The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts will present cultural historian Joseph Horowitz and French classical pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet in a lecture-recital titled “Ravel and Jazz” on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts and the School of American and Global Studies are partnering with the South ��ֱ���� Symphony Orchestra of Sioux Falls to present a forum titled “Music as an Instrument of Diplomacy” on Monday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

South ��ֱ���� State University will host the In-Service Music Conference on campus Feb. 13-15. The conference will bring music educators from across the state to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center for a series of workshops and concerts.

Jack the Jackrabbit wasn’t in the delivery room when Dave and Elaine Gullickson’s three children were born, but that was about the only time they weren’t surrounded by a Yellow and Blue influence. Between going to sporting events, watching the Hobo Day parade, visiting the Dairy Bar and climbing Coughlin Campanile, the Gullickson children were frequently experiencing South ��ֱ���� State University. So, when it came time for Michele, Lori and Jeff to choose a college, it’s not surprising they stayed in Brookings and chose Jackrabbits for spouses. Fast forward a generation and eight of Dave and Elaine’s grandchildren also have become SDSU graduates or are attending SDSU. That’s why when it came time for the SDSU Alumni Association to choose its 2025 Family of the Year, the Gullicksons' nomination was impossible to ignore. The family will be honored at a March 1 awards luncheon at the Alumni Center and then at the women’s basketball game versus St. Thomas that afternoon.

The South ��ֱ���� Agricultural Heritage Museum and the South ��ֱ���� Industrial Hemp Association will present “The Future of Hemp,” a program about industrial hemp production in South ��ֱ����, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6.

feel for what it would be like to live on Mars are encouraged to participate in the South ��ֱ���� Space Design Competition at South ��ֱ���� State University March 8-9. The contest is part of an international event sponsored by Industry Simulation Education, which has been designing aerospace engineering contests since 1984, and is being hosted in South ��ֱ���� by SDSU’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering.

The 2025 Lamb Bonanza at South ��ֱ���� State University featured the traditional auction of lamb pelts, this year raising $6,700 for student scholarships.
