Blair Metzger, president of DGR Engineering of Rock Rapids, Iowa, received the Wayne E. Knabach Excellence in Power à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã at the Center for Power Systems Studies banquet Oct. 3 at McCrory Gardens Education and Visitor Center.

Each fall—prior to the start of preseason training camp—members of the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University football team make the trek to Wagner Hall to gather key information about the current makeup of their bodies. Led by Seth Daughters, an instructor in the exercise science program, student-athletes will get parameters on their body fat percentage, lean muscle and fat free mass. This information will help guide the student-athletes in their individualized strength and conditioning plans throughout the season. 

South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University is partnering with hospitals in Brookings, Huron and Madison to expand the public health and respiratory therapy workforce. The Community Practice Innovation Center within the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions at SDSU has received a three-year, $1.545 million federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.

South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University accounts for 45% of the overall economic impact of public higher education in South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, according to a study recently released by the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Board of Regents using FY19 data. The six degree-granting regental institutions and the BOR office produce an annual economic impact of $2.1 billion, while sustaining more than 12,000 jobs.

Anand honored for teaching excellence. Anand received the North Central Region for 2021 Excellence in College and University Teaching à£à£Ö±²¥Ðãs for Food and Agricultural Sciences by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. He receives $2,000 to be used for improving teaching at SDSU.

Through the generosity of two South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University alumni, the university has established its first endowed faculty position in the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Tate Profilet and Mary DeJong Family Endowed Director of Early Childhood Education was formalized at an Oct. 22 investiture ceremony, paving the way for a new era of the early childhood education program at State.

South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University’s American Indian Science and Engineering Society student organization received The Outreach and Community Service à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã at the annual AISES National Conference, held Sept. 23-25 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
