South ��ֱ���� State University Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2024-25 season with the wonky comedy “Fuddy Meers.”

The South ��ֱ���� Art Museum at South ��ֱ���� State University will celebrate the immersive exhibition of “Anila Quayyum Agha: Shadows and Splendor” with a day of programming on Saturday, Sept. 28. Agha will host a fine arts workshop on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (registration required) and a free, public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m.

The South ��ֱ���� Cattlemen’s Foundation was honored recently as the 2024 recipient of the South ��ֱ���� State University Friend of the Beef Industry award for its contributions to the South ��ֱ���� beef industry.

David C. Earnest, the Odeen-Swanson Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of South ��ֱ����, has been named dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at South ��ֱ���� State University. Earnest was selected following a national search and will begin working on the SDSU campus July 8.

Former, current and future public servants gathered April 9 to celebrate the creation of the Mike Huether Public Service Academy at South ��ֱ���� State University.

The South ��ֱ���� Art Museum at South ��ֱ���� State University will open its newest exhibition, “Termespheres: Without Beginning or End,” with a free public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Artist Dick Termes will speak at 6 p.m., discussing the spherical paintings in this exhibition, known as Termespheres, and his process for creating them.

The annual South ��ֱ���� State University Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized 30 faculty members, researchers and scientists Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.

Srinivas Janaswamy, associate professor of food chemistry, has demonstrated how banana peels can be utilized to create biodegradable films — plastic-like material that will decompose in the environment and may one day replace petroleum-based plastic as the dominant food packaging material.
