Hosting or Recruiting Faculty and Scholars

Providing a clear explanation of the rights, responsibilities, requirements and options to international students and scholars is a joint effort between the Office of International Affairs and the various Academic Departments around SDSU's campus.

Departmental Responsibilities

Faculty who have specific questions about what category would be most beneficial for a potential J-1 Visitor should direct their questions to Kirsten Linke, Director of International Students and Scholars.

If an academic department is planning to recruit for a position that may attract international candidates, they should discuss this with the Human Resources and the Shared International Services Center to ensure that the department is meeting the requirements imposed by the U.S. Department of Labor guidelines for foreign labor certification. This will help ensure that the eventual employment process goes smoothly. Specific hiring questions should be directed to Jilena Faith, BOR HR Generalist II.
