Pamela Boever, accounting assistant in Facilities and Services, has been named South ֱ State University’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for April.

She will be honored at a reception held from 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the Facilities and Services building on campus.

Boever has worked for Facilities and Services for the past 6 ½ years. Her supervisor, Jennifer Kindt, director of facilities business operations, called Boever an invaluable asset to the department, processing hundreds of invoices each year and consistently demonstrating exceptional accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills.

“Her dedication to ensuring all invoices are paid promptly and accurately has significantly contributed to the smooth operation of our department,” Kindt said. “Pam’s meticulous approach to her work not only reflects her commitment to excellence but also instills confidence in her colleagues and supervisors.”

Program assistant Marla Mitchell said Boever is willing to jump in wherever help is needed, including verifying work is complete and the invoice and work order match, tracking down and redirecting missing invoices, entering direct payments and processing invoices.

“Pam follows the processes that are in place for our work management system but also adds suggestions on how the systems and processes could be streamlined and improved,” Mitchell said.

Herbert Saathoff, welding and maintenance services supervisor, said Boever is always willing to help, even with issues that fall outside the area of accounting.

“She is quick to help me with invoicing issues and computer skills and gives quick and decisive answers. I know when I have a billing issue, she will have or find an answer. Pam has helped me more than once to get out of a pickle I have gotten myself into,” Saathoff said.

Several coworkers also mentioned her laughter, stories and fun personality.

“Pam has a wonderful positive attitude and is always friendly and in a good mood. She is the definition of positive affectivity … and has a quick wit and an infectious laugh, which almost daily lightens the mood in the office,” said Michael Jensen, building maintenance and paint services manager.

Originally from Flandreau, Boever and her husband moved to Brookings in 2016. They have two children and two grandchildren, and she enjoys camping and spending time with family.

“I enjoy working at SDSU and take pride in my work to make sure I am doing a good job and doing it right,” Boever said.

All SDSU Employee of the Month selections are determined through a nomination process by the Civil Service Advisory Council. Each civil service employee of the month receives an appreciation monetary gift from the F.O. Butler Foundation. The trustees of the foundation recognize the importance of civil service employees and take this opportunity to thank them for their exemplary service.
