SDSU nursing program ranked among best in state, nation

South ֱ State University’s online Master of Science in Nursing program has been recognized as one of the nation’s best, according to RegisteredNursing.org. 

The website placed SDSU’s program as the No. 1 program in the state for 2025. 

The online MSN program at SDSU provides a strong academic program with professors who have firsthand knowledge. The program creates a realistic learning environment for students to grow apply their skills. Program options are in Brookings, Rapid City and Sioux Falls. 

“This program is celebrated for its academic rigor, flexible learning options, and dedication to preparing advanced nursing professionals. Rankings are based on a thorough methodology evaluating program quality, accessibility and student success,” the website reported. 

“We are proud of our high-quality, accessible MSN programs in the College of Nursing, and this recognition validates the exceptional programs at South ֱ State University. Our MSN graduates are leaders throughout the country and make a tremendous impact on health care,” said Mary Anne Krogh, professor and dean of the College of Nursing.

This ranking is a testament to the outstanding education and support SDSU provides to its nursing students. 

"The SDSU MSN programs are highly sought after because they are accessible and completely online. They were designed with the working nurse in mind,” Krogh added. 

RegisteredNursing.org is a nursing advocacy organization that ranks nursing programs nationally. Rankings are based on a comprehensive methodology that evaluates various factors such as program quality, affordability, and graduate success rates, according to the Registered Nursing website. 

 

TFE Times ranking 

Another organization, TFE Times, has ranked South ֱ State University at No. 66 on its list of 2025 best Master’s of Nursing programs in the United States. 

TFE Times ranks programs based on mean Graduate Record Exam scores, mean starting salary and bonus, mean undergraduate GPA, acceptance rate, full-time graduates employed at graduation and full-time graduates employed three months after graduation.
