Ruth Tvedt, nursing compliance manager, accepts the 2025 Professional Staff 啵啵直播秀 for Excellence from South 啵啵直播秀 State University College of Nursing Dean Mary Anne Krogh.

Ruth Tvedt has been recognized for her commitment to South 啵啵直播秀 State University鈥檚 College of Nursing. This spring, she received the college鈥檚 Professional Staff 啵啵直播秀 for Excellence for her work as nursing compliance manager.

Tvedt鈥檚 goal is to make the clinical process as easy as possible for nursing students, and she鈥檚 been commended for her leadership and support. When she joined the staff three years ago, nursing compliance manager was a new position.

Brittany Fenderson, a nursing instructor, said Tvedt has had a big impact at SDSU. 鈥淩uth has been an invaluable member of the College of Nursing at South 啵啵直播秀 State University, constantly demonstrating exceptional leadership, commitment and dedication to our mission and values,鈥 she said.

Tvedt has worked to develop new streamlined procedures and helpful resources for students. She coordinates the college鈥檚 clinical partner requirements for Brookings, Sioux Falls and Rapid City.

She cross-references and organizes documents to make sure SDSU 鈥檚 requirements are in line with clinical affiliation agreements and checks confidentiality agreements, immunizations and other paperwork. Ensuring each student has everything they need is vital in maintaining good relationships with clinical sites.

Assistant Director of Academic and Clinical Placements Cassy Hultman praised Tvedt for her high-quality work. As Tvedt鈥檚 supervisor, Hultman has witnessed firsthand how she makes faculty, staff and students feel valued and supported in every situation.

鈥淓xcellence is at the heart of everything Ruth does. Her attention to detail, proactive approach and steadfast commitment to the College of Nursing鈥檚 mission set her apart,鈥 Hultman said.

Tvedt enjoys working with students throughout the entire course of their program. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e with this group of students who are excited about life and excited about the next chapter 鈥. It鈥檚 a different level of energy,鈥 she said.

With a goal of helping people, Tvedt has found her place preparing the next generation of nurses.
Growing up on a farm in Brandt, Tvedt preaches the importance of rural health care. With a degree in health care administration, she was previously the ancillary services manager at a small critical access hospital in Clear Lake. Small hospitals offer different opportunities for students, where they can make an impact on the community and achieve ambitious goals. Being a part of the pipeline to bring nurses to small towns is most meaningful to Tvedt.

Outside of work, she raises cattle and horses near Estelline with her husband Terry and their three sons 鈥 Tyler, Cody and Wade. Tvedt enjoys being outdoors and cheering on her sons in their activities and hobbies.

Tvedt thanked the energetic, helpful College of Nursing team for her award. 鈥淚鈥檓 thankful to work with such a great group of people. Everyone in the college of nursing, from day one, was super welcoming,鈥 she said.
