Prairie Repertory Theatre announces its 54th season, featuring a vibrant and entertaining lineup of musical classics, timeless drama and side-splitting comedy.

Free health screenings were provided in the Mitchell community via a pop-up event hosted by South ��ֱ���� State University and community partners. The event was made possible through a collaboration between SDSU, Lewis Drug, Southeast Technical College, the City of Mitchell and an endowment from Julie Stevens and Dale Evenson.

New precision agriculture technology designed to help farmers improve their field scouting and livestock grazing will be demonstrated as part of the West River Research Farm Field Day next week. The event will run 3-7 p.m. MT on Wednesday, June 11, at 13370 Alkali Road, Sturgis.

Weed management, virtual fencing and variety trials are just some of the topics that will be covered during the 2025 slate of Research Station Field Days presented by the South ��ֱ���� State University College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. Events will be happening at locations across the state from June to mid-September, with each one focusing on local topics of interest.

The first law of thermodynamics is energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only change forms. Whether energy can be retired and what form it will take when retired is about to be tested by South ��ֱ���� State University physics professor Larry Browning, whose 35-year career at SDSU will officially wrap up May 21. This spring was the final semester in a 50-year career of teaching science.

College classes are done for the 2024-25 school year, but the South ��ֱ���� State University campus will be “flooded” with a much younger student population on Tuesday, May 13, as SDSU hosts the 33rd annual Big Sioux Water Festival. The event will draw 1,100 fifth graders from 24 schools in eastern South ��ֱ����, including Brookings and Watertown. They will be accompanied by 180 teachers and chaperones from 53 classrooms plus 155 area volunteers.

May 10, 2025, marks the 139th commencement at South ��ֱ���� State University. More than 1,700 graduates will walk across the stage, ready to take the next step in their careers. This year, the ceremonies return to campus — inside the newly renovated First Bank & Trust Arena. After rotating through five different locations over the past seven years, commencement is back on campus to stay. But pulling off an event of this size takes more than just a great venue — it takes months of planning, a campuswide committee and one person leading the charge.

South ��ֱ���� State University held its annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Day April 15 in the University Student Union’s Volstorff Ballroom.
