"Nordic Echoes: Tradition in Contemporary Art" is the first major traveling exhibition to explore how Nordic folk arts and cultural traditions continue to inspire contemporary artists in the Upper Midwest. Featuring 55 works by 24 artists, the exhibition brings together painting, textiles, wood and metal that reflect both inherited practices and new directions. These works show how traditions are not fixed relics of the past but living forms that adapt, evolve and resonate in new contexts.

Artists in "Nordic Echoes" draw from weaving, carving, blacksmithing and other traditional skills to create works that speak to identity, belonging and place. Their practices reveal how heritage can be honored while also being reshaped by new generations, environments and materials. From innovations in form and technique to reimaginings of long-standing symbols and motifs, the exhibition celebrates the persistence and flexibility of Nordic traditions in contemporary life.
