Southeast Research Farm Field Day offers unique tours, expert insights

There will be something for everyone at the 2025 Southeast Research Farm Field Day on Tuesday, July 8, in Beresford. Specific topics to be covered include a tour of the alfalfa variety trials, tile drainage, composting, a 2025 weather outlook and lots of activities for the whole family.

There will be something for everyone at the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University Southeast Research Farm Field Day, Tuesday, July 8, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at 29974 University Road, Beresford. Attendees will be able to choose from multiple farm tours, hear relevant research presentations, and the day will end with a Family Evening put on by SDSU Extension. 

“We have a variety of topics that are being addressed at the field day, from corn and soybean production, to forages, small grains and weed control, as well as horticultural topics along with weather and market updates,†, Southeast Research Farm manager and SDSU associate professor, said. “There should be something here for everyone interested in crop production in southeastern South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, along with time to visit with experts on each topic.†

The first round of tours will head out around 1:30 p.m. There will be a break at 3, followed by a second round of tours at 3:30, and a third round of tours at 6:30. Also beginning at 3:30 p.m. are several indoor presentations on topics important to local producers. A food truck and family activities will be available at 4:30, courtesy of SDSU Extension. The Southeast Research Farm is a South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Agricultural Experiment Station field station. This field day is one of six hosted by the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences taking place across the state of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã this summer, with each presenting research conducted locally and of interest to local farmers and community members.
