Theatre and Dance High School Workshop
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025
We invite all high school students no matter their expertise to "Uncovering the Mysteries: Strategies for Theatrical Storytelling."
The School of Performing Arts is excited to invite you and your students to our high school workshop on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University campus. We invite all high school students no matter their expertise! Any student, teacher and director interested in theater and dance performance should plan to attend this exciting performing arts workshop.
Participants will have an opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art facility, take classes from faculty, interact with current theatre and dance students from SDSU and work alongside peers from across the region. We are also offering two complimentary tickets for workshop attendees to our production of "The Diary of Anne Frank" which runs Oct. 16-18 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
The workshop has a three-fold purpose: 1) building collaborative community, 2) enhancing knowledge and skill, and 3) developing skills in creative work. This event will interest theater and dance students, those interested in acting and performance, and those whose interest is more specifically focused on technical theater (lights, sound, costumes, makeup, and properties and scenic design). This year, the High School Workshop will focus on how performance techniques can be utilized in modern storytelling. With explorations in style, language and analysis, students will learn new techniques to add to their creative toolbox and discover the ability to discover subtext and themes in contemporary plays. Participants will explore movement techniques that help enhance bold storytelling. Additionally, participants will explore technical elements with modern sensibilities.
This event is free to all students and directors and includes a free lunch and two complimentary tickets to our production of "The Diary of Anne Frank."
